Laredo, Texas – The Dustdevils lost a heartbreaker on Thursday evening in the KCB, as they fell to the St. Edwards Hilltoppers, 61-62.
The opening half of the game saw a closely contested battle between St. Edward's and TAMIU. St. Edward's managed to secure a 36-29 lead at the break, largely due to the scoring of Sean Elkinton, who contributed 28 points on an impressive 73.3% shooting. On the Dustdevil side,
Mathew Okoye's outstanding performance kept them within striking distance. Okoye tallied 24 points, showcasing his three-point accuracy and ability to draw fouls.
The second half intensified the competition as both teams fought relentlessly for control. St. Edward's maintained their lead, but the Dustdevils made a strong push, outscoring St. Edward's 32-26.
Mathew Okoye continued his stellar performance, finishing the game with 24 points. However, St. Edward's managed to hold on, securing a narrow 62-61 victory.
