Laredo, Texas - TAMIU, 12-2 (4-2 Lone Star), faced St. Edward's, 5-6 (2-3 Lone Star), on Thursday night and came out with an impressive 91-72 victory.
In the first quarter, St. Edward's took an early lead with a score of 27-19. TAMIU mounted a comeback in the second quarter, outscoring St. Edward's 27-18. The Dustdevils held the Hilltoppers to a shooting percentage of 35.71% in the second quarter.
The third quarter saw TAMIU dominate with a 30-15 run. In the final quarter, the Dustdevils maintained control, securing a 15-point advantage. The Dustdevils, the Lone Star Conference's top scoring offense, ultimately secured the victory, 91-72.
Raiana Brown's had an outstanding offensive performance with 32 points. Brown also added 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal. Ngozi Obineke contributed 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Telisha Brown added 16 points and 4 steals.
The Dustdevils return to action on Saturday, January 6 at 1pm in the KCB in Laredo, Texas.
