Dustdevils Celebrate Senior Night | Fall To StMU

Laredo, Texas- The Texas A&M International Dustdevils took on the St. Mary's Rattlers Saturday night at Dustdevils Stadium. It was senior night for the Dustdevils as the conference foes were ready for a Lone Star Conference soccer showdown. The Dustdevils entered the match 2-7-2 while St. Mary's entered the evening 8-2-2.
 
St. Mary's entered the match perfect in the conference and were the first on the board, scoring in the first half at the 39th minute. TAMIU had a shot on goal to tie the game by Felipe Garcia in the 67th minute but just nearly missed as it hit the crossbar. St. Mary's would then push to 2-0 in the 82nd minute with a goal from Enzo Jaques. TAMIU would finish the evening with 11 shots and one on goal. St. Mary's finished the game with 16 shots and eight on goal. With the loss, the Dustdevils move to 2-8-2 on the season.
The seniors who were honored on the night were:

#2, Stone Strongin. Stone is a senior from Hicksville, New York. Stone was escorted today by Sarai Costa, Guy Lehrer and Nico Weignadt. He will be graduating with an MBA in International Banking and Finance. Stone is the son of Arlen and Florence Strongin. He also has a brother who is Storm Strongin. During his spare time, Stone likes reading, listening to music and running. During his time as a Dustdevil, he has played 25 games with 12 starts and 1,352 minutes played for the Dustdevils.
 
#3 Daniel Galindo. Daniel is a senior from Bogota, Columbia. Daniel was escorted today by teammate Inaki Solabarrieta. He is majoring in mathematics and is minoring in computer science. Daniel is the son of Isabel Ambuila and Agustin Galindo. Daniel also has a brother, Jhon Galindo. During his time as a Dustdevils Daniel has played 27 games, including 20 starts, totaling 1,965 minutes.

#4 Saul Fernandez. Saul is from Gijon, Spain. Saul was being escorted today by Jorge Amaya, Sarai Costa, Alan Flores and Juan Perez. He will be graduating with a major in Kinesiology and a minor in exercise science. Saul is the son of Eduardo and Juliana Fernandez. In his spare time, Saul enjoys going to play a game of Padel with a group of friends. During his time as a Dustdevil, Saul has recorded 23 games played, with 22 starts, with 2 goals and one assist. Totaling 1,901 minutes.
 
#5 Johnathan "Yahir" Gallardo. Yahir is a senior from Dallas, Texas. He was escorted by his Mother Rosalinda Gallardo, Byron Aguilar, Chris Fuentes, Johnathan Cervantes and Felipe Garcia. Yahir is majoring in kinesiology. Yahir is the son of Oscar and Rosalinda Gallardo. Yahir is also the brother of Flavio Gallardo. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching and playing soccer. During his time as a Dustdevil he has played 29 games, starting every one of them. He has accumulated 8 assists and two goals. Totaling 2,232 minutes.
 
Coach Arias commented,
 
"It is always an emotional time when seniors are presented with their gifts but we are glad they were apart of our soccer family. We will treasure the memories on and off the field forever. We pray God will bless their lives from this point forward."
 
The Dustdevils will take on UT-Tyler at 5:00 PM Wednesday. It will be the Kristine Meza Foundation Night.
