Fort Smith, Arkansas- The Dustdevils traveled to Arkansas to take on the Lions in the Hampton Inn Classic. The Dustdevils have had a grueling schedule to start the season as they have took on some of the best teams in Division II. TAMIU women's basketball has been trying to prepare themselves for conference play in one of the most competitive conferences in Division II. Going into today's game, TAMIU is 7-20 all-time against the Lions.

The home team was quick out the gate as they took an early 17-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Dustdevils, led by the duo of
Janiya Murphy and
Angelique Morgan were able to outscore the Lions 18-8 in the second quarter to go up 29-25 at halftime. It was back and forth action as the Lions outscored the Dustdevils 17-12 in the third quarter to go into the fourth quarter just ahead by one.
Janiya Murphy exploded in the beginning of the fourth quarter as she erupted with eight points in a matter of 30 seconds against the Lions to put the Dustdevils up 49-42. The Dustdevils were up one with two and half minutes of play left in the game. Unfortunately, the Dustdevils could not hold onto the lead as they fell 60-57 to the Lions.
The Dustdevils shot 37% from the field, 27% from behind the three point line, and 50% from the charity stripe.
Janiya Murphy led the way offensively for the Dustdevils, finishing with 16 points while shooting 50% from the field.
Josie Igherighe led in rebounding with seven boards and also led in assists with two.
The Dustdevils will play again tomorrow against Missouri Southern at 1:00 PM.
