San Angelo, Texas – The Dustdevils continued the season on the road in San Angelo as they took on the ASU Rambelles. Despite an explosive first quarter, the Dustdevils fell short against ASU with a final score of 82-64.
The Dustdevil offense came out strong led by freshman
Trinity Chears who had 11 points.
Josie Igherighe also contributed six points. TAMIU shot 9-16 (56.3%) from the field and 2-2 from three-point range. Behind Chears and Igherighe's offense, the Dustdevils jumped out to an early 24-22 lead.
In the second quarter, the Dustdevils shot 5-17 (29.4%) from the field and 0-5 from range.
Alyssia Thorne led TAMIU in the quarter with seven points.
The Dustdevils trailed 37-41 going into halftime.
The Angelo State defense held TAMIU to just 11 points in the third quarter, shooting 3-16 (18.8%) from the field and 1-4 from beyond the arc. Chears again led the offense with five points.
In the fourth quarter, the Dustdevils held ASU to just 2-14 from the field to close the game. TAMIU was again led by Igherighe as she scored nine points in the final 10 minutes. The Dustdevils shot 5-12 (41.7%) from the field and 1-5 from range.
The Dustdevils return home on Dec. 15
th to take on the ENMU Greyhounds. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
