Laredo, TX – TAMIU emerged triumphant with a final score of 7-4, in the final game of the series with Eastern New Mexico on Sunday afternoon at Jorge Haynes Field.
ENMU grabbed an early lead in the 1st inning as Pruitt's double to left field brought in Archuleta. However, TAMIU swiftly responded in the 2nd inning, with
Nomar Prieto's single to left field driving in Josh Benitez.
Ariben Gutierrez's walk and
Abiam Medina's subsequent walk extended the lead to 3-1. In the 4th inning, Medina's sacrifice fly added another run, bolstering TAMIU's advantage.
ENMU showed resilience in the 6th inning, with Hamilton's RBI single bringing in Gideon. Ponce reached on a fielder's choice, capitalizing on an error that allowed Archuleta to score, narrowing the gap to 4-3. However, the Dustdevils answered back in the 7th inning as
Ariben Gutierrez's single brought in Prieto. Medina then delivered the decisive blow with a two-run homer, securing a 7-3 lead.
In the 9th inning, ENMU made a late push as Pyles doubled, bringing in Terilli, but TAMIU's lead proved insurmountable.
On the mound, ENMU's Kinter faced a challenging outing, lasting only 1 innings and allowing 2 runs. Almond provided solid relief, pitching 2 innings and allowing 1 run. Meanwhile, the Dustdevils showcased strong pitching performances, with
