Box Score Lawton, Okla.– Texas A&M International baseball swept both games of the doubleheader with Cameron on Saturday, winning game 3, 9-7. The Dustdevils lead the series 3-0 after the victory.
The scoring began in the 1st inning as TAMIU took an early lead.
Ariben Gutierrez crossed the plate on a single by
Omar Cervantes, and a subsequent fielding error allowed two more unearned runs, giving TAMIU an early advantage. Cameron responded in the same inning with Lance Barnett scoring on a passed ball, narrowing the gap to 3-1.
As the game progressed,
Isaac Stanwick's RBI single in the 2nd inning extended TAMIU's lead to 4-1. The 5th inning saw
Nomar Prieto's sacrifice fly adding another run for TAMIU, while Wyatt Grant's double brought Cameron to 5-2. In the 6th inning, Stanwick and Gutierrez contributed two more runs for TAMIU, but Grant's home run brought Cameron closer at 7-3.
Cameron staged a remarkable comeback in the 7th inning, tying the game at 7-7 with a series of runs fueled by walks, singles, and strategic base running. However, in the 9th inning, TAMIU sealed the victory with two crucial runs, capitalizing on passed balls to secure the win at 9-7.
