Laredo, Texas – In Sunday's series finale against the Greyhounds (8-3, 1-2), the Dustdevils (5-8, 2-1) battled to earn the 3-2 victory.
Kylie Goad started on the mound for the Dustdevils and held the Greyhounds scoreless through three innings.
A solo home run in the fourth and a single with an error in the fifth put the Greyhounds up 2-0 late in the game.
The Dustdevil offense came alive in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Victoria Maldonado got things rolling with a lead-off single. A single from
Victoria Espinoza put two runners on with one out for TAMIU.
Alondra Rodriguez singled to left field bringing in Maldonado for the Dustdevils' first run of the game.
Kennedy Griego came up to the plate with two runners on and brought home TAMIU's second run with an RBI single. An RBI single from
Victoria Gonzalez gave the Dustdevils a 3-2 lead with one inning to go.
The Greyhounds tried to rally in the top half of the seventh, but Goad shut them down earning her third win of the season.
Goad finished the game pitching seven innings allowing two runs on nine hits with two walks.
The Dustdevils continue their season at home when they face Texas Woman's on Tuesday and Wednesday at Dustdevil Softball Field.
