Game 1
Laredo, Texas - In an exciting matchup at Jorge Haynes Field UTPB emerged victorious in Game 1 of the doubleheader against TAMIU, securing an 11-1 win.
The scoring began early in the 1st inning, with UTPB's Hall doubling to left center, bringing in two runs and setting the tone for the game. TAMIU responded promptly in the same inning as
Abiam Medina doubled to right field, driving in
Ariben Gutierrez to narrow the gap to 2-1.
As the game progressed, UTPB continued to build their lead. Hall homered in the 3rd inning, adding two more runs, and in the 4th inning, Hall was hit by a pitch, bringing in another run. The 7th inning proved to be decisive for the Falcons as they added five more runs.
Jeffers from UTPB delivered a solid pitching performance, going seven innings, allowing only one run, and striking out seven batters. The Dustdevil's Christipher Sauceda took the loss, pitching three innings and conceding four runs.
Ariben Gutierrez and
Abiam Medina had notable performances with a double each, but their efforts were not enough to overcome UTPB's offensive onslaught.
Game 2
In the second game of the doubleheader TAMIU secured a convincing 6-1 victory against UTPB. With the win, Dustdevil pitcher
Jan Cabrera became the winningest pitcher in program history with 14 wins and now also holds the record for most strikeouts in program history at 164.
The opening innings remained scoreless, with both teams' pitchers displaying solid performances. In the 4th inning, UTPB's Hall broke the deadlock by singling to left field, bringing in Hamlin to take a 1-0 lead. TAMIU responded swiftly in the same inning, with
Isaac Gonzalez's sacrifice fly to right field scoring
Omar Cervantes, followed by a balk that allowed
Antonio Buentello to cross the plate, putting the Dustdevils ahead 2-1.
The 6th inning saw TAMIU extending their lead significantly.
Abiam Medina doubled to right field, driving in three runs (Gutierrez, Stanwick, and Prieto), taking a commanding 5-1 lead.
Joseph Cruz added another run with a single to left field, bringing in
Abiam Medina and securing a 6-1 advantage.
In his history making performance, Dustdevil pitcher
Jan Cabrera had a stellar outing, going 6.2 innings, allowing only one run, and striking out three batters. R.J. Patrick, closed the game effectively, ensuring the victory. UTPB's, Espiritusant faced challenges, pitching 3.1 innings and allowing two runs. Adams and Wenske provided relief but couldn't contain the potent Dustdevil offense.
Ariben Gutierrez and

Abiam Medina's double played a crucial role in the 4th inning rally.
The victory in Game 2 improves the Dustdevil's record to 8-9, while UTPB stands at 9-6. The teams will return to Jorge Haynes field for game 4 of the series on Sunday, February 25 at 1pm.
