Wichita Falls, Texas – The Dustdevils (16-11, 12-9) continued their three-game road trip in Wichita Falls, Texas, to take on the Midwestern State Mustangs (16-11, 10-11) in Lone Star Conference play Saturday afternoon.
The first twenty minutes went in favor of the Dustdevils as they took a 39-29 lead into halftime.
The Dustdevils shot 17-33 (51.5%) from the field and 4-8 (50%) from beyond the arc.
Esteban Roacho and
Shannon Strickland led the charge for the Dustdevils with both tallying seven points in the opening half.
The Dustdevil defense held the Mustangs to just 29 points in the first half, shooting 10-30 (33.3%) from the field and just 3-11 (27.3%) from beyond the arc.
The Mustangs rallied back from the 10-point deficit in the second half shooting 15-30 (50%) from the field and 3-9 (33.3%) from three-point range, giving them the 70-56 victory.
TAMIU shot 7-28 (25%) from the field and were unable to connect from long distance in the second half.
John Achebe finished the game with 12 points and eight rebounds for the Dustdevils, with Strickland right behind him with nine points, two rebounds and a block.
Olaverr Camacho led the game with 11 rebounds in the contest.
The Dustdevils finish the regular season on the road in Kingsville, Texas, where they take on the Texas A&M – Kingsville Javelinas Feb. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
