Kingsville, Texas – The Dustdevils (17-11, 13-9) finished the regular season with a 78-53 win over Texas A&M Kingsville (6-21, 4-18), earning their 13
th conference win of the season, the most in program history since joining the Lone Star Conference in 2019.
In the first twenty minutes, the Dustdevils shot 13-33 (39.4%) from the field and 3-13 (23.1%) from three-point range.
Emaniel Alexandre led TAMIU's offense with 12 first-half points,
John Achebe right behind him with nine.
TAMIU held the Javelinas to 29 points, shooting 42.9% (12-28) from the field and 25% (2-8) from beyond the arc.
The first half saw a lot of back-and-forth action, but the Dustdevils took a 38-29 lead into halftime.
The Dustdevils kept the momentum on their side in the second half. Led again by Alexandre and Achebe, the TAMIU offense put up 40 points behind shooting 17-29 (58.6%) from the field and 4-8 (50%) from beyond the arc.
The Javelinas were held to just 24 points, shooting 10-27 (37%) from the field and 4-12 (33.3%) from three-point range.
The Dustdevils capitalized on all aspects of the game, tallying 43 rebounds and 13 steals on the night. Achebe led the team in both categories with 12 rebounds and four steals.
The Lone Star Conference Tournament begins next Thursday, March 7 in Frisco, Texas. The Dustdevils currently sit seventh in the conference but will have to wait until Saturday for the official seeding.
