Kingsville, Texas – The Dustdevils (5-17, 2-10) took on the Javelinas (16-4, 9-3) in the series finale Wednesday afternoon where TAMUK took the 5-1 victory.
Tessa Ramirez got the start on the mound marking her first start of the season for the Dustdevils.
TAMIU got on the board first with a sac fly from
Kennedy Griego that brought
Katelyn Luera into score and gave the Dustdevils a 1-0 lead.
The Javelinas answered back with a run in the bottom of the second courtesy of an RBI single knotting the game at one.
The Javelinas extended their lead with three runs in the home half of the third before adding one more in the sixth, securing the 5-1 win.
Ramirez finished the game with six innings pitched while allowing five runs on nine hits with no walks and five strikeouts.
The Dustdevil offense was led by singles from Luera,
Victoria Espinoza and
Kristin Maldonado.
The Dustdevils return to Laredo Mar. 2-3 for a series at home against the St. Mary's Rattlers. First pitch on Saturday is set for 12:15 p.m.
