Laredo, Texas – The series finale between the Dustdevils and the Aggies saw a lot of back and forth action, but the Aggies just got past TAMIU with an 8-7 victory on Friday.
Cameron started the scoring early with two runs in the first via a 2-run home run.
Alex Hernandez had the equalizer for TAMIU in the bottom of the second inning with a 2-run shot of her own, tying the game at two.
The Aggies scored two more off back-to-back home runs in the third before TAMIU took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Queenandra Dunn reached via error that brought two runs into score for TAMIU.
Eva Garcia brought in the go-ahead run with an RBI-single that brought Hernandez into score.
The game stayed at 5-4 in favor of the Dustdevils until the top of the seventh where Cameron scored four, jumping in front of TAMIU 8-5.
Kristy Alanis doubled to center to start the bottom of the seventh for TAMIU before coming in to score on
Victoria Gonzalez's two-run shot that brought the Dustdevils within one.
Victoria Espinoza then doubled two right-center after initially being called out at second, however after a challenge from head coach
Scott Libby, Espinoza was ruled safe. However, the Dustdevils did not bring the tying run across, and Cameron secured the 8-7 win.
Tessa Ramirez started the game on the mound for TAMIU and pitched four innings and allowed four runs on seven hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Carla Arellano pitched three innings in relief and allowed four runs on four hits with one strikeout.
The Dustdevils head to Odessa, Texas, for a series against UTPB on April 6-7.
