Laredo, Texas - Texas A&M International baseball dropped game one of the series to the Arkansas – Fort Smith Lions Friday, 16-5
The Lions started their scoring in the first inning, putting up two runs with an RBI single from Michael Brinton.
In the third inning UAFS added three more runs to their tally with a three-run home run by Ryan Riggs.
The Dustdevils earned two runs in the bottom of the third with a bases-loaded walk to
Omar Cervantes and a sacrifice fly from
Nomar Prieto.
The Lions added one more in the fifth before adding five more in the seventh putting them ahead 11-2.
TAMIU scored their third run of the game with an RBI single by Prieto in the bottom of the seventh.
UAFS scored two more in the top of the eighth, followed by a run for the Dustdevils in the home half of the inning.
The Lions added three more in the top of the ninth with the Dustdevils adding one more run in the final inning, giving the Lions the 16-5 victory in game one.
Luke Davenport earned the win for the Lions, while
Isaac Ponce took the loss.
The Dustdevils look to bounce back in games two and three of the series Saturday with first pitched scheduled for 12 p.m.
