Silver City, New Mexico – The Dustdevils closed out their series with the Mustangs on Saturday with an emphatic 8-0 victory.
Tessa Ramirez got the start on the mound and was lights out for the Dustdevils.
Ramirez faced 15 batters and retired them all for TAMIU's second perfect game in program history. In five innings, Ramirez allowed no runs on no hits with no walks and four strikeouts.
TAMIU's offense started the scoring early behind Ramirez.
Kennedy Griego got TAMIU on the board in the first inning with an RBI double that brought in
Kristin Maldonado.
Victoria Espinoza added two more runs to the Dustdevils' tally with a 2-run shot putting TAMIU up 3-0.
The Dustdevils extended their lead in the top of the third with a sacrifice fly from
Zaria Brigham that brought in
Natalie Castoreno.
Eva Garcia brought in
Alana Garcia in the top of the fourth putting the Dustdevils ahead 5-0.
Victoria Gonzalez put TAMIU in front by eight with a 3-run home run that solidified the Dustdevils' win.
The Dustdevils finished the game with ten hits led by Espinoza and Gonzalez's home runs.
TAMIU continues their season at home against St. Edward's March 12-13 at Dustdevil Softball Field.
