Laredo, Texas – The Dustdevils took on the #1 Lady Buffs in game three of the series on Sunday afternoon. Despite being out-hit 8-5 by the Dustdevils, first-ranked West Texas earned the 4-0 victory.
West Texas got the scoring started in the first inning as a groundout brought in the first run for the Lady Buffs. The conference's top hitter Diana Murtha brought in the Buffs' second run with a sacrifice fly to right field.
The Lady Buffs doubled their lead in the fifth adding two more runs on a single and an error, putting them up four over the Dustdevils.
The Dustdevils out-hit the Lady Buffs 8-5 in the contest, led by two-hit efforts from
Kristy Alanis and
Kennedy Griego.
Victoria Gonzalez,
Zaria Brigham,
Victoria Espinoza and
Alondra Rodriguez also added hits for TAMIU.
Tessa Ramirez got her ninth start on the mound for the Dustdevils and went the distance, pitching seven innings and allowing four runs on five hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
The Dustdevils continue the season at home April 20-21 as they take on #6 UT Tyler, with senior day scheduled on the 21
st.
