Clinton, Miss – The Dustdevils continued its road trip in Clinton, Mississippi, taking on the Mississippi College Choctaws. Four first-half goals pushed the Choctaws past TAMIU, 4-2.
The Choctaws opened up the scoring early with two goals in the first 47 seconds by Eduarda Silva and Madison Leber.
Silva scored her second goal of the game in the 10
th minute, followed by a goal from Margherita Giubilato in the 18
th minute to push Mississippi College ahead by four.
Gabriela Mendez-Ortiz put the Dustdevils on the board with a goal in the 35
th minute, and the score remained 4-1 for the rest of the half.
After a tame opening to the second half,
Janize Castillo cut the lead in half with her goal in the 71
st minute, but that would be it for the Dustdevils.
TAMIU recorded three shots in the match, all of which were on goal. The Choctaws recorded 18 shots, 15 on goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Claramalia Pederson recorded nine saves in the match.
The Dustdevils look to bounce back Friday against Delta State with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 a.m. EST.
