Laredo, Texas – The Dustdevils faced a tough challenge in their home opener as they took on #10 Dallas Baptist Saturday night. With one goal in each half, the Patriots defeated TAMIU 2-0.
The Patriots first half goal came in the 28
th minute off the foot of Annie Severide, giving them a 1-0 lead. DBU had nine shots in the opening half, but goalkeeper
Hannah Harris made two saves to keep the lead at one.
Claramalia Pederson came into the game to start the second half for TAMIU.
In the 60
th minute, DBU scored via a penalty kick from Sophia Schrock, putting the Patriots up 2-0. Pederson recorded one save in the second half for TAMIU.
TAMIU recorded two shots on goal in the game, both off the foot of
Candela Gonzalez.
The Dustdevils head to Alpine, Texas, on Oct. 2
nd to face off against Lone Star Conference newcomers, Sul Ross State. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
