Silver City, New Mexico – TAMIU traveled to Western New Mexico on Saturday to face the Mustangs in a Lone Star Conference matchup. The Dustdevils' strong defensive performance helped lead them to the 61-53 victory.
In the first quarter, TAMIU shot 5-16 (31.3%) from the field, but converted four of their six free throw attempts. The Dustdevil defense held the Mustangs to just 4-19 (21.1%) from the field and 1-5 (20%) from three-point range.
In the second quarter, TAMIU improved to 6-14 (42.9%) from the field and once again converted four of six free throw attempts. The defense stopped the mustangs again holding them to just 10 field goal attempts in the quarter.
In the third quarter, TAMIU shot 6-17 (35.3%) from the field and sank three of six free throws.
In the final 10 minutes, the Dustdevils shot 5-13 (38.5%) from the field and 2-4 (50%) from beyond the arc.
Josie Igherighe and
Angelique Morgan were key contributors on offense, each finishing with 15 points. Igherighe added eight rebounds, while Morgan had five.
Defensively, the Dustdevils limited Western New Mexico to just 33.3% shooting for the game.

th for a rematch against St. Mary's. The last time these teams met, the Rattlers escaped with a 76-71 victory in overtime. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
