Laredo, Texas – Texas A&M International women's soccer fell 2-0 to St. Edward's on Saturday evening at Dustdevil Soccer Field in Lone Star Conference play.
The Hilltoppers struck early, scoring in the 2nd minute and later added a second goal in the 72nd minute to seal the match. Despite the deficit, TAMIU kept pressure on throughout the evening, totaling five shots and earning four first-half corner kicks.
Adamaris Manjarrez and
Janize Castillo each recorded a shot on goal for the Dustdevils, while goalkeeper
Maria Melendez finished with two saves in a full 90-minute effort.
Rosa Caird led the offensive push late with two shot attempts, including one that hit the crossbar.
The Dustdevils (2-7-3, 1-6-2 LSC) return to Dustdevil Field for their next matchup on Wednesday, October 22, hosting West Texas A&M in continued conference action. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
