Alpine, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball earned a dominant sweep on the road Saturday afternoon, defeating Sul Ross State 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-21) inside the Gallego Center.
The Dustdevils were led by
Sierra Long, who posted a match-high 13 kills while hitting .435, and setter
Natalia Cisneros, who dished out 23 assists and added five digs.
Sierra Sanchez added six kills with a .667 hitting percentage, while
Danea King chipped in five kills and two blocks.
At the service line,
Samantha Estrada fueled the offense with five aces and 12 digs, helping TAMIU control the tempo from start to finish.
Caitlyn Cornell and
Aryana Ledet also contributed two service aces each as the Dustdevils finished with 10 aces as a team.
Defensively, TAMIU held Sul Ross to a .113 hitting percentage and totaled 38 digs and five team blocks, led by Cornell and King at the net.
With the win, the Dustdevils improve to 3-10 overall and 1-3 in Lone Star Conference play.
TAMIU continues the season on the road against Dallas Baptist on Oct. 7. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
