Tyler, Texas- The Men's Basketball team continued their Lone Star Conference campaign on Saturday as they took on the UT-Tyler Patriots in Tyler. The Dustdevils entered the evening 11-16 overall and 6-12 in the conference. The Patriots entered the contest 8-16 overall and 5-13 in the conference.
The Dustdevils started off hot in the first half. TAMIU was able to put 43 points on board while the Patriots were only able to put up 32 in the first half. TAMIU found their groove as they were able to have their fourth highest scoring game in the season. The Dustdevils have notoriously come out with the victory whenever they reach around the 80-point mark during games. Today was no different as they downed the Patriots 77-71 on the road.
The Dustdevils shot 46.3 percent from the field, a blazing hot 42.9 percent from three and were 81.1 percent from the free throw line as they shot 37 total on the night. The Dustdevils were led in points by
Caylen Goff Brown with 19. However,
Anthony Ignowski (13),
Elijah Bailey (13) and
Isaiah Somers (11) all finished in double digits.
Esteban Roacho was close to a double-double as he finished with nine points and fourteen rebounds.
The Dustdevils will be back in action Thursday against Lubbock Christian at 7:30 PM CDT.
