Odessa, Texas - In a thrilling game one between UTPB and TAMIU, the Falcons secured a 4-3 walk-off victory over the Dustdevils on Friday.
The Falcons' offense got going early, scoring a run in both the first and second innings to take an early 2-0 lead.
TAMIU responded in the third inning with a pair of runs driven in by
Nomar Prieto and
Omar Cervantes to tie the game.Â
The Dustdevils pushed across the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth with a single from
Abiam Medina.
In the bottom of the ninth, UTPB rallied for two runs to complete the comeback and earn their first win of the season.
Mario Garcia started on the mound for TAMIU and pitched seven innings. He allowed two runs on two hits, with just three walks and seven punchouts.
TAMIU's offense secured 10 hits on the day with key production from
Joseph Rodriguez who went 2-4 with a double and a triple, as well as Medina who was 3-4 on the day with an RBI.
The Dustdevils and Falcons continue the series Saturday with a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 12 p.m.
