Laredo, Texas – The Dustdevils dropped games two and three of its series against Oklahoma Christian on Saturday by scores of 13-8 and 8-5.
Game One
The Eagles got on the board early, plating a run in the top of the first inning.
Abiam Medina and
Joseph Cruz each brought in a run for the Dustdevils in the bottom of the first inning as TAMIU jumped out to a 2-1 lead.
Joseph Rodriguez and
Alex Lugo each brought in another run each for TAMIU as the Dustdevils extended its lead to 4-1.
Oklahoma Christian had back-to-back five run innings in the fourth and fifth to take an 11-4 lead.
Eddie Saenz hit a two-run home run in the fifth followed by
Nomar Prieto scoring on an error as the Dustdevils cut into the OC lead to make the game 11-7.
Saenz brought in another run for the Dustdevils in the sixth bringing TAMIU within three.
The Eagles tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh, securing a 13-8 victory in the first game of the day.
Lalo Salinas started on the mound for the Dustdevils and pitched 3.2 innings.
Austin Brewer,
Rudy Guardiola and
David White all made relief appearances. Dustdevil pitching combined for five walks and five strikeouts.
Game Two
The Eagles and Dustdevils went back and forth for the first half of game two. Both teams put up one run in the first and two in the third leaving the score 3-3 after three innings.
The Eagles scored two more in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead.
The Dustdevils scored one in the fourth and one in the fifth to tie the game at five, but the Eagles tacked on three more in the top of the seventh to secure an 8-5 win.
Omar Cervantes went 1-2 in game two with two RBI.
Abiam Medina,
Alex Lugo and
Joseph Rodriguez all tallied RBI as well.
Mark Chapa started game two for TAMIU and pitched three innings, allowing five runs on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Danny Dial and
Sota Inden both pitched in relief.
The series concludes Sunday afternoon with the Dustdevils looking to finish the weekend with a win. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
