Dustdevils Fall to Eagles in Game 4

Laredo, Texas – The TAMIU Dustdevils concluded its series against the Oklahoma Christian Eagles Sunday afternoon at Jorge Haynes Field. The Eagles put up 14 hits and nine hits and stopped a ninth inning rally from TAMIU to win the game 9-6.

The game remained scoreless through the first inning but a three-run top half of the second and a solo home run from Omar Cervantes in the bottom half of the inning left the score at 3-1 Eagles after two.

Oklahoma Christian plated four more runs in the third to extend its lead to 7-1.

TAMIU got one back as David Benitez tripled in the bottom of the fourth inning, bringing in Cervantes.

The Eagles added some insurance with two more runs in the sixth inning, bringing the score to 9-2.

The Dustdevil offense rallied in the bottom of the ninth as Joseph Cruz hit a three-run home run. Joseph Rodriguez came in to score on an error by the Eagles, but that was it as the Eagles escaped with a 9-6 victory.

Jose Duran started the game on the mound for the Dustdevils and pitched two innings. He allowed three runs on two hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.

Michael Ramos, Angel Larranaga, Kamron Snodgrass and Omar Rodriguez all pitched in relief. Dustdevil relievers combined for six runs on nine hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.

The Dustdevils travel to San Antonio March 7-9 for a four-game series against St. Mary's. First pitch on March 7th is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
