Laredo, Texas – The Dustdevils and Chaps squared off in game four of their Lone Star Conference series Sunday afternoon. Both teams tallied five hits on the day, but the Chaps earned the series win with a 4-1 victory.
The Chaps scored early with a solo home run in the top of the first to take an early 1-0 lead.
Ciro Benavides tied the game in the second inning with a single that brought in
Abiam Medina.
LCU brought in another run in the fourth before adding the third and fourth runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Mark Chapa started the game for TAMIU and pitched 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on two hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Rudy Guardiola,
Danny Dial and
Jose Duran all pitched in relief and combined for no runs on three hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
The Dustdevils head to San Angelo March 21-23 for a four-game series against #6 Angelo State. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday night.
