San Angelo, Texas – In the last game of their Lone Star Conference matchup, the Dustdevils scored first, but a late rally from Angelo State led the Rams to a 4-2 victory on Sunday.
TAMIU scored first, plating two runs in the top of the second inning.
Ciro Benavides scored on a RBI groundout from
Edsael Torres before
Omar Cervantes scored on an RBI single from
Issac Stanwick.
The Rams cut into TAMIU's lead in the bottom of the third with a sacrifice fly to cut the Dustdevil lead to 2-1.
The score stayed the same until the bottom of the sixth where ASU tied the game.
The Rams scored one run in the seventh and one in the eighth to secure the 4-2 victory.
The Dustdevils outhit the Rams 7-6, led by Stanwick who was 1-3 on the day with an RBI.
Lalo Salinas started the game on the mound for the Dustdevils.
Jose Duran pitched 5.1 innings in relief, allowing three runs (none earned) on five hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
Omar Rodriguez and
Danny Dial also pitched in relief.
The Dustdevils head to the bye week March 28-30. TAMIU returns to action April 4
th to begin a series at home against Texas A&M – Kingsville.
