Dustdevils Drop Doubleheader Against Javelinas

Laredo, Texas – The Dustdevils and Javelinas continued their four-game series with doubleheader action on Saturday afternoon. The Javelinas swept the doubleheader, winning game one 7-4 and taking game two 2-0.

The Javelinas scored first in game one with two runs in the top of the third inning.

TAMIU cut into the TAMUK lead in the bottom of the fourth as Abiam Medina came into score on an error by TAMUK's second baseman.

The Dustdevils took the lead in the bottom of the fifth as Alex Lugo and Joseph Cruz scored on an error by the Javelina infield.

Lugo singled to bring in Cruz in the sixth inning as TAMIU extended its lead to 4-2.

The Javelinas tied the game in the seventh, sending the game to extra innings.

It took 12 innings, but the Javelinas scored three runs in the top of the twelfth to take game one 7-4.

Game two saw a pitching duel between TAMIU's Mark Chapa and TAMUK's Tyler Schumann.

The game remained scoreless until the top of the sixth as the Javelinas scored twice. Schumann held the Dustdevils to 2-0 as the Javelinas earned the 2-0 victory.

The series concludes Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
