Richardson, Texas – Texas A&M International men's soccer battled to a 2-2 draw against Sul Ross State on Thursday evening at the UTD Soccer Field, showcasing a strong offensive push and gritty defensive effort.
The Dustdevils opened the scoring in the 24th minute when
Tiziano Klamler buried a chance to give TAMIU the early lead. Just after halftime,
Kai Louviere doubled the advantage in the 50th minute, finishing a well-worked play assisted by
Rafael Zaic and
Jonathan Cervantes.
Sul Ross responded with two quick goals in the second half to even the score, but the Dustdevils continued to create chances while leaning on their back line and goalkeepers.
Emmanuel Esquivel and
Nicklas Berg-Eriksen combined for five saves on the night to help secure the result.
Despite playing down a man after a late red card, TAMIU held firm defensively to close out the draw.
The Dustdevils move to 2-0-3 on the season and will look to build on the performance heading into their next match against Ouachita Baptist on Saturday.
