Hot Shooting From the Mustangs Cause TAMIU Women's Basketball Loss On The Road

WICHITA FALLS – Texas   Midwestern State Mustangs' eight made threes and 27 fast break points lead to TAMIU Women's Basketball team's fifth road loss of the season by a final score of 78-66 inside D.L Ligon Coliseum.

TAMIU (12-9,9-6) battled against a stifling 2-3 zone from the mustangs that forced 16 points off 18 turnovers in the first quarter. This led to an early 16-0 run that the Dustdevils had to climb back from.

Jayden Smallwood led the way offensively scoring 15 points shooting 6-of-13 paired with Dacia Jones' 13 shooting 5-of-7.

Midwestern State (6-15,3-12) got three players in double figures but guard Da'Lonna Choice led the mustangs shooting 8-of-16 for 22 points and four made threes in the fourth quarter.

Both teams faced tough defense throughout with the mustangs and Dustdevils each having 28 turnovers a piece but the 50 percent shooting and a 27 to 14 fast break point advantage by the mustangs sealed the deal.

The Dustdevils remain on the road to face off against #23 Lubbock Christian University on Saturday.
