Dustdevils Sweep Series Versus Sul Ross

LAREDO- Texas   The Dustdevils sweep the season series against conference opponent Sul Ross State with a final score of 9-3 inside Jorge Haynes Field.  

TAMIU (7-7,7-7) collected 10 hits in the afternoon, securing seven runs in the first three innings of play. Dustdevils' Eddie Saenz went 3-for-3 and in the first, hit an RBI double scoring Ciro Benavides, who got on base with a triple.  

In the second innings Dustdevils' brought up eight different batters, three of which got base hits to help score three runs.  

In the third Dustdevils brought home three more runs off a sac-fly by Tristian Garcia and an error on the Lobos shortstop.  

Receiving his fourth start of the season, A.J. Sanchez on the mound, held the Lobos back with two hits and four strikeouts in three innings of work. Five different pitchers appeared in this ball game for the Dustdevils to control the nine walks allowed.  

Sul Ross State (1-13, 1-13) left fielder Luke Garrett (1-4) led the Lobos in a fourth inning push with a two RBI single cutting the Dustdevil lead to 7-3.  

On the series Dustdevils' out hit their opponent 35 to 22 and outscored them 24-15 in four games.  

TAMIU hits the road to face Oklahoma Christian in a four-game series over the weekend.  

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Senior first baseman, Eddie Saenz, went 3-for-3 today with two RBI and hit .500 (7-14) on the series helping the Dustdevils bounce back after a tough series against UT Tyler. Saenz is currently pursuing a degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science.
