Box Score EDMOND- Oklahoma-- The Dustdevils battle back against Oklahoma Christian in game one with a two RBI double by Eddie Saenz in the top of the ninth to win 8-6 inside Dobson Field.
TAMIU (8-7) after six innings trailed 6-4 before Isaac Stanwick scored on a wild pitch in the seventh and an RBI single by Derek Garcia in the eighth tied things up heading into the ninth.
Oklahoma Christian (4-11) built their early lead off 12 hits with Trey Migl (3-5) and Justin Spencer (3-5) finding success at the plate. One through four on the Eagle lineup collected 10 of the team's hits, bringing in four runs.
In the top of the ninth Eagles pitcher Jason Rickert faced leadoff hitter Ciro Benavides who gets on base with a single. Saul Soto then advanced to first on a hit by pitch. This brought up Eddie Saenz with two runners on where he collected his third hit of the night with a 2RBI single, securing a late game lead.
The Dustdevils on the night collected nine hits being led by Eddie Saenz (3-4 2RBI) and Saul Soto (2-4 RBI).
The Eagles brought five pitchers in the contest allowing six wild pitches and five earned runs. The Dustdevils put three players on the mound allowing five walks, three strikeouts and a wild pitch.
The game one win over Oklahoma Christian marks the second road win of the season for the Dustdevils who look to continue their success through the weekend.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Senior first baseman, Eddie Saenz, went 3-for-4 with two RBI and now leads the team with 18 RBIs on the season with a .453 batting average. Saenz is currently pursuing a degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science.
