LAREDO, Texas – The Dust Devils win their first home series of the season with a final score of 14-4 against the UTPB Falcons Sunday inside Jorge Haynes field.
TAMIU (3-3,3-3) led early in the second inning with a 2-RBI Double from second baseman Ciro Benavides and an RBI double from Saul Soto scoring three runs putting the dust devils up five.
UTPB (2-4,2-4) brought in five different pitchers to slow the 13 hits from the dust devils, and the falcons got held to only three runs off six hits, with Dust Devil starting pitcher Christopher Sauceda throwing four strikeouts in six innings of work.
The dust devils recorded 30 hits in the series, scoring a total of 36 runs in three games; four of which came off two home runs by Eddie Saenz and Saul Soto.
TAMIU continues conference play this weekend on the road facing University of Texas at Tyler while the UTPB falcons continue conference play on the road against Texas A&M Kingsville.
