2017:
Palacios competed in five meets as a sophomore highlighted by a ninth place finish at the Islander Splash running 21:58.3 for 5,000-meters. She finished 38
th at the Heartland Conference Championships running a seasonal-best time of 25:19.8 for 6,000-meters at Cessna Activity Center. She opened the season with a 52
nd place finish at the Norry Hersey Rice Invite. Also finished 201
st at the MSSU Southern Stampede.Â
2016:
Palacios was the third finisher for the Dustdevils at the Heartland Conference Championships where she finished 30
th overall covering the 6,000-meter course in 24:05.0. She finished seventh at the Islander Splash running 20:45.8 helping TAMIU to a team title with 26 points over Southeastern Oklahoma. The freshman recorded a 36
th place finish at the 7
th Annual Roadrunner Invitational hosted by Metro State covering the 6,000m course in 25:55.8. She finished 79
th at the Rice Invitational covering the 4,163-meter course in 16:57.5.
High School: United High School (Class of 2016)
Palacios ran varsity cross country for all (4) years as well as varsity track for (3) years. Palacios was Team Captain for her senior year and advanced to the regional qualifying meet in both cross country and track.
Personal: Krystina Palacios is the daughter of Maria and Alfredo Palacios. She is joined by her (3) siblings: Andrea, Alfredo Jr., and David. She decided to stay in Laredo to attend TAMIU because she really enjoys the atmosphere and the diversity it brings. In addition, it is very close to home which made the decision a lot easier. Her most inspirational figure is her mother. Her future aspirations are to become a successful athlete and student as well as to help others in achieving their goals and fitness. Her favorite athlete is Steve Prefontaine, a former American middle and long-distance runner who competed in the 1972 Olympics. In her spare time, Palacios does crafts/projects, enjoys reading, attending concerts, and spending time with friends and family.
