Martinez participated in four events for the Dustdevils. His best performance was at the Lone Star Conference Championship where he placed 11th with a time of 25:33.3.
2019:
Dusty Award winner for Male Runner of the Year, Martinez ran in six meets and finished in the top 15 three times, including a top 10 and top five finish. His best overall finish was fourth place, finishing in that spot at the Concordia Classic. Martinez had a season best time of 21:28.2 at the UIW XC Invite and also shined at the Lone Star Conference Cross Country Championships with a 20th place finish (26:25.1). Martinez also competed at the NCAA DII South Central Region Cross Country Championship, finishing with a time of 33:57.7 in the 10K event.
2018:
Martinez ran a total of five races, and his best was Heartland Conference Championships (8k) where he ran 26:24.9 and placed 17
th. Martinez made it to the NCAA Division ll South Central Region Cross Country Championships (10k) where he posted a time of 34:29.8.
High School:
Martinez attended United High School in Laredo, Texas where he was a four-year member of the Track & Field and Cross Country teams. Martinez competed in Regionals for United and was named All-City in 2018.
Personal:
Martinez is the son of Belinda and Carlos Martinez. Martinez has a younger sister, Kaitlyn. Martinez will be pursuing a Kinesiology major with a minor in Biology.
