Dawson attended Charnwood College where she was a member of the Basketball, Netball and Swimming teams. On the court, she was a 2020 WBBL Champion, 2019 WEABL Champion, U18 Cup Champion, Division 1 Cup Champion and U17 Finalist. She finished her final season averaging 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists per game.

Dawson is the daughter of Alison Lee and Nigel Dawson. She has an older sister, Charlotte. Dawson will be pursuing a major in Kinesiology.
