2017:
Castro made 14 starts and 17 appearances during her sophomore season alternating between the midfield and left back. She led the team with five assists, which is the third-most in a single season in program history.  She also had 17 shots, nine of those on target for a .529 shot on-goal percentage. She had her second career multi-assist match in the Dustdevils season-opening 5-3 win over Delta State. Had a season-high four shots against Midwestern State on Sept. 10. 

2016:
Castro appeared in 17 matches including six starts as a freshman forward for the Dustdevils registering 642 minutes. She finished the season with a team-high three assists, two of those coming in a career-high 90 minutes against St. Mary’s on Sept. 7. She ranked second on the team in shots (18) and shots on goal (9) for a shot on goal percentage of .500.

High School: Woodrow Wilson High School (Class of 2016)
Castro played (4) years of soccer for the Wildcats as a foward and midfielder. She was named MVP for (3) years, First Team All-District all (4) years, Top Scorer for (2) years, and reached (100) goals in her (4) years.

Personal: Monica Castro is daughter of Gracie Martinez Castro and Manuel Castro. She is joined by her (3) brothers: Manny Castro, Rolando and Victor Reza. Castro chose TAMIU to help lead her to a great future. Her most inspirational figure is her mother. Her future aspirations and goals are to become a great example for the younger generation. Castro's favorite athlete is Leonel Messi who currently plays for FC Barcelona and the Argentinian National Soccer Team. Castro enjoys playing soccer in her spare time.
