LUBBOCK, Texas – A trio of first-half goals doomed Texas A&M International’s visit to Lubbock Christian on a water-logged Monday that saw the location and start time of the match altered at the last minute. The Lady Chaps defeated the Dustdevils, 3-0, at Frenship High School's Peoples Bank Stadium, which has a Field Turf playing surface.

The match was moved moved because of unplayable conditions at LCU Soccer Field.

With the weekend’s showers leaving standing water at LCU Soccer Field, the game originally scheduled 2:30 p.m. was rescheduled to 1 p.m.

The storm the Dustdevils (1-9-0, 1-4-0 Heartland Conference) faced didn’t consist only of rain and wind, as the Lady Chaps (6-5-0) assaulted TAMIU and goalkeeper Christina Morales’ net with 21 shots – nine on target – on their way to a three-goal, four-assist performance. TAMIU leveled a respectable 10 shots from seven different shooters, but only two attacks were on frame. LCU keeper Lauren Story completed both saves to maintain her clean sheet.

Forwards Alyssa Perez and Chelsea Connor were the only two to punch precise shots, and those two shots were the only that the pair unleashed. Center back Paige Johnson led the team in shots taken with three, while Emily Behnke took two. Four other Dustdevils let a shot apiece fly.

It was LCU’s Jamie Boone that was most active on the pitch, recording the game’s opening goal in the 13th minute off an Emily Odom assist. She then returned the favor with an assist of her own on Kristen Fellows’ 27th minute strike. Priscilla Brannon closed the scoring in the 38th minute off a combo-assist by Allison Brinson and Chach Olivarez

Boone led the game in shots taken with six, as five fell on Morales’ frame. Both Fellows and Brannon took four shots, while Odom fired two.

The Dustdevils face a pair of road games at Oklahoma Christian (Oct. 19, 7:30 p.m.) and No. 14 Dallas Baptist (Oct. 21, 2:30 p.m.) before returning to the TAMIU Soccer Complex on Oct. 26 to host the University of Texas at Brownsville at 7:30 p.m.
