COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In the first game of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament featured 10 score-tying plays and nine different lead changes between Texas A&M International University and Metropolitan State University of Denver. After Dustdevils' junior guard Keiona Matthews hit a mid-range jump shot with three-and-a-half minutes remaining to tie the game at 53, the Roadrunners saw out their 66-62 victory.

The loss stands as the Dustdevils' (4-1, 0-0 Heartland Conference) first since their elimination in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament last March.

Matthews' game-high 20 points outscored the Dustdevils second- and third-highest scorers. TAMIU's Jessica Prieto and Stella Ghazarian scored nine points each while Alexis Thomas was two points away from a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds. The Dustdevils shot 35.7 percent (25-70) from the field and just 24.1 percent (7-29) from behind the 3-point arc, but TAMIU combatted a frosty shooting night with 30 points in the paint.

The Dustdevils will return to action at the UCCS Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament on Saturday against host UCCS at 8:30 p.m. before four more road games to end the year. The Dustdevils will return home on Jan. 1, 2015 to host Newman in Heartland Conference play.
