GOODWELL, Okla. – In search of its first road win of the season, Texas A&M International University visited Oklahoma Panhandle State en route to an 18-point victory in Heartland Conference play on Saturday. The Dustdevils (5-5-, 1-1 Heartland) cruised to a 68-50 victory after taking the lead for good in with 12 minutes left in the first half.
Three Dustdevils finished with double-digit point totals, led by junior Jessica Prieto's 17-point, 10-rebound double-double – her second of the season. Senior Jessica Woo shot 70 percent from the field to score a game-high 21 points with five rebounds and a pair of blocks and steals. Keiona Mathews finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists in 31 minutes.
Preito also contributed a game-high seven assists while playing all but three minutes of the game. The Dustdevils bench scored 29 points as the built a 27-point lead with nine minutes left in the game before gliding to the finish.
TAMIU forced the Aggies into 21 turnovers, including seven steals and seven stuffed shots while limiting them to 29 percent shooting from the field and an anemic 13 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.
TAMIU opens Heartland play at home versus Newman on Jan. 1 at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building.
