Bargallo nets third goal in two days, Dustdevils fall 1-3

WICHITA, Kansas (October 22, 2016) - The Texas A&M International Women's Soccer team took on Newman University on Saturday. TAMIU was dealt a 1-3 loss, moving to 1-14-1 overall (1-10-1 HC).

Cio Bargallo netted her third goal in just three days to give TAMIU an early lead at Newman. Bargallo controlled a ball in the box, firing from the right wing. The ball hit the right post, finding the back of the net in the 16th minute.

TAMIU would hold the one-goal advantage through the remainder of the first half. The Dustdevil defense held the Jets to just two shots on goal through the first 45 minutes of play.

Newman would come back to even the game in the 49th minute, taking the lead in the 63rd minute of play.

Freshman keeper Kiyana Lopez would save three more shots before the Jets added a third goal in the 77th minute, putting the game away.

Bargallo's goal marked the sixth of her season. Monica Castro, Abigail Colmenares, and Bargallo combined for the six Dustdevil shots. Lopez played all 90 minutes in net, grabbing eight saves.

The Dustdevils will head back on the road next week for a matchup with St. Edward's. Play is set to begin in Austin, Texas on Thursday, October 27 at 12 pm CST.
