Zamora picks up double-double in home loss to LCU

LAREDO, Texas (October 29, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Volleyball team closed out their weekend homestand in a match with Lubbock Christian. The Dustdevils were defeated in three sets, moving to 2-18 overall (2-9 HC).

Set 1: TAMIU 11 - LCU 25
The Dustdevils jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first set. Lubbock Christian would respond with multiple runs throughout the remainder of the game, extending their lead. Two three-point runs would end the first set in favor of the Chaps.

Set 2: TAMIU 14 - LCU 25
After taking a 4-2 lead, the Dustdevils were victims of a six point Chap run. LCU would add another four-point run to open a 15-9 lead midway through. Despite a final push from the Dustdevils, LCU would put the game away late with a pair of scoring runs.

Set 3: TAMIU 15 - LCU 25
TAMIU would battle late in an attempt to force game four before the Chaps responded. After falling behind late in the game, TAMIU pushed to come within eight, LCU would end that push, scoring the final point, taking the match.

Tori Zamora recorded a double-double with 10 digs and 12 assists. Samantha Gonzalez led the offensive effort, picking up six kills. Gonzalez added two blocks on the afternoon.

The Dustdevils head back on the road for a matchup with Angelo State. TAMIU will play in San Angelo, Texas on November 1. Play is set to begin at 4 pm CST.
