KINGSVILLE, Texas (November 1, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Volleyball team traveled to Kingsville in a matchup with two Lonestar Conference opponents on Tuesday. TAMIU was dealt a 0-3 loss to #10 Angelo State and Texas A&M Kingsville. TAMIU moves to 2-20 overall.
MATCH 1: TAMIU 0 - Angelo State 3 (10-25, 22-25, 9-25)
The Dustdevils found a tough match against the #10 ranked team in the nation to start Tuesday evening. TAMIU fell 10-25 in the first set.
The Dustdevils worked their way back into the second game, tightening the game with the Rambelles. After opening a lead through the first 22 points of the match, TAMIU was halted by a five-point Rambelle run. The Dustdevils would battle to bring the set within one before ASU put home the final two points of the second set.
Set three saw ASU take a commanding lead, putting TAMIU away 9-25.
MATCH 2: TAMIU 0 - Kingsville 3 (12-25, 20-25, 20-25)
A hot Kingsville team would down TAMIU in three sets in the second match of the evening.
After falling 12-25 in the first set, TAMIU battled Javelina runs with scoring runs of their own. After a four-point Kingsville run, TAMIU opened a three point lead with a run of their own. A late run from TAMUK would put the second set away, putting TAMIU down 0-2.
The third set was another tight battle for the Dustdevils. An early 5-1 lead was spoiled by a pair of scoring runs from the Javelinas. TAMUK scored the final point in the match, winning 3-0.
The Dustdevils return to Heartland Conference action on Thursday, November 3 in Wichita, Kansas. TAMIU faces off with Newman University. Play is set to begin at 7pm CST.
