LAREDO, Texas (February 6, 2016) -- The Texas A&M International University Baseball team was dealt a 7-2 loss Saturday Afternoon. The Dustdevils move to 1-5 in the 2016 season.
TAMIU responded to a two-run first inning with a run of their own.
William Mora lined a double down the left field line, scoring
Cody Perez from first. The Dustdevils would tie the game in the sixth. Following an
Alex Medina double,
Osvaldo Rosas hit an RBI single. The Rams would add five runs in the final three innings, leading to the final score of 7-2.
Cody Perez led the way for the Dustdevils, going 2-4 at the plate. Perez had a stolen base and crossed the plate once for TAMIU. Mora went 1-3 at the plate, recording 1 RBI on the double.
Alexander Cabezas went 1-3 at the plate with a walk, Cabezas also recorded a stolen base.
Eduardo Rodriguez started on the mound for the Dustdevils. Rodriguez pitched 7.1 innings, allowing three (3) runs on four (4) hits. Rodriguez recorded five (5) strikeouts on the day.
Nate Kowalik came in for relief in the eighth inning, going 1.2 innings.
The Dustdevils will be back in action February 12 in San Antonio. TAMIU will take on Our Lady of the Lake. This will be the Dustdevils first road stint of the 2016 season. First pitch is set for 2 pm.
