TAMIU takes loss against Hillcats

CLAREMORE, Oklahoma (February 6, 2016) -- The TAMIU Men's Basketball team took a 61-93 loss against the Rogers State Hillcats on Saturday afternoon. The Dustdevils move 9-5 in Heartland Conference play, while holding a 14-8 overall record.

In the first half, the Dustdevils opened play with two Arkeem Joseph layups in the first minute of the game. As the first 20 minutes expired, TAMIU found themselves down by 16. Taking the court for the second half, the Hillcats pushed to double their lead, defeating the Dustdevils with a 32-point deficit.

Junior Jordan VanDeKop and Senior Arkeem Joseph led the charge for the Dustdevils scoring with 15 points each. Senior Anthony Alston and Junior Jake Eynon followed with 9 points of their own. 

The Dustdevils performed with more consistency at the line against the Hillcats (58.3% vs. 53.3%), but the Hillcats took control of the remaining scoring categories. On the other side of the court, TAMIU experienced their lowest rebound total of the season with 18.

TAMIU will look to rebound at home when they host the Texas - Permian Basin Falcons (11-10, 6-7 HC) on Thursday night at the TAMIU KCB. Tip off is set for 7:30pm CST.
