LAREDO, Texas (March 12, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Softball continued Heartland Conference play against Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday. The Dustdevils defeated the Aggies 7-1, moving to 13-15 overall (4-3 HC).
Ashley Hight got things started for TAMIU in the second inning. Hight lined a single to center, scoring
Krissy Sardelich and
Alyssa Acuna.
Brandi Giles drove in the third run on an RBI single, scoring
Brenda Parnin. After five (5) innings, TAMIU led 4-0. TAMIU pushed three (3) runs across in the sixth behind a 2 RBI single from
Taylor Vines and an RBI single from
Brittany Mussett.
Hight and Vines each recorded two (2) RBI at the plate. Parnin went 2-4 with one (1) run scored.
Krystal De La Cruz picked up her ninth win of the season, throwing a complete game. De La Cruz allowed just one run on seven (7) hits, striking out eight (8).
The Dustdevils continue the weekend series with the Aggies Sunday. First pitch is set for 1 pm at Dustdevil Field.
