Edmond, Oklahoma (March 15, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Softball kicked off a week long road trip on Tuesday. The Dustdevils were dealt two losses to #24 Central Oklahoma Bronchos. TAMIU is now 15-19 overall (5-4 HC).
TAMIU battled back in game one, down by three in the fifth.
Brittany Mussett tied things up with a three-run home run over the right field fence.
Erika Sanchez would put the Dustdevils on top in the sixth. Sanchez lined a two-run double to right center, scoring
Krissy Sardelich and
Alyssa Acuna. Leading 5-3
Taylor Vines brought home Sanchez and
Anna Parnin, putting TAMIU up 7-3. The Bronchos would come back to win game one in the ninth inning.
Game two saw both teams battle in an offensive outburst, combining for 25 total runs. TAMIU used a six (6) run second inning to open up a 6-3 lead. Central Oklahoma, second in Division II batting average put up 11 runs in the fourth putting the Bronchos up 14-7. Anna and
Brenda Parnin each knocked in a run in the fifth and sixth innings cutting the lead to five.
Mussett finished with six (6) RBI on the day. The Dustdevils head to Emporia Kansas to take on Emporia State University on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 3 pm, with game two following.
