Box Score 2 Emporia, Kansas (March 16, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Softball team continued their week long road trip with a split at Emporia University. TAMIU took game one 6-5 and dropped game two 8-11. TAMIU is now 16-20 overall, 4-3 HC.
Game 1: TAMIU 6, Emporia 5Trailing 1-3 in the third,
Brittany Mussett lined an RBI single scoring
Brenda Parnin.
Brandi Giles followed with an RBI triple, tying the game at three.
Chelsea Capello put TAMIU on top with an RBI single, bringing Giles across the plate. The Dustdevils brought home two (2) insurance runs in the fourth, enough to pick up the win.
Game 2: TAMIU 8, Emporia 11Trailing by one in the seventh TAMIU battled back, scoring five (5) runs in the top of the inning. Giles drove in
Taylor Vines on an errant throw from short to tie the game. With the bases loaded
Alyssa Acuna sent a grand slam over the left field fence, putting TAMIU up 7-3. Emporia extended the game to extra innings in the bottom of the seventh. TAMIU put up one in the ninth before Emporia walked off with a game winning home run.
TAMIU heads to Wichita, Kansas for their next set of games. The Dustdevils start a three game Heartland Conference series with the Newman Jets. Friday features a double header, first pitch is set for 1 pm CST.
