Durant, Oklahoma (March 16, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball team started a four game road trip on Wednesday. The Dutdevils picked up a 6-5 win over the Savage Storm. TAMIU moves to 11-11 overall (2-1 HC).
Trailing 1-0 in the fourth,
William Mora sent a pitch over the left field fence. Mora brought in
Abel Aguilar and Alex Cabezas on the long ball. Two batters later
Nathan Halas hit a two-run home run, scoring
Sergio Pollorena. After four innings TAMIU led 5-1. Pollorena gave the Dustdevils an insurance run in the seventh, bringing home
Mario Ramirez on an RBI single. The Savage Storm looked to make a ninth inning comeback before
Daniel Edmondo shut the door.
Pollorena went 4-6 with an RBI and one (1) run scored. Mora picked up three (3) RBI, Halas with two (2).
Nick Perales picked up his first win, throwing five (5) innings. Perales allowed two (2) runs on five (5) hits, striking out one (1).
Jacob Tello relieved Perales, throwing two (2) innings, striking out two (2).
Justin Diaz and Edmondo threw one (1) inning of relief. Edmondo picked up his first save of the season.
TAMIU heads to Fort Smith, Arkansas for their next set of game. The Dustdevils start a three game Heartland Conference series with the Fort Smith-Arkansas Lions. Friday features a double header, first pitch is set for 1 pm CST.
