LAREDO, Texas (March 29, 2016) -- The Texas A&M International University Softball team took on Texas A&M Kingsville in midweek action on Tuesday. The Dustdevils took a 0-3 loss in game 1 and defeated TAMUK 3-2 in game two. TAMIU is now 18-23 overall (6-6 HC)
Game 1: TAMIU 0, TAMUK 3Game one saw the Dustdevils take a 0-3 defeat, following a no-hit performance in the circle from the Javelinas. Kingsville used runs in the second, fourth, and sixth innings to build a 3-0 lead.
Krystal De La Cruz started in the circle for the Dustdevils, throwing a complete game. De La Cruz allowed three (3) runs on six (6) hits, striking out three (3).
Game 2: TAMIU 3, TAMUK 2Brandi Giles got things started for the Dustdevils in game two, launching a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning.
Brenda Parnin drove in TAMIU's third run of the game on an RBI double off the left field fence. The Javelinas rallied in the seventh with two (2) runs before the Dustdevils shut the door.
Delainy Thompson got the nod in game two, throwing a seven inning, complete game. Thompson picked up five strikeouts, allowing just two runs on seven hits.
The Dustdevils next set of games features a Heartland Conference series with St. Edward's University. The Dustdevils will play the three game set at the Dustevil Softball Field, part of a 10 game homestand. First pitch is set for April 1 at 1 pm CST.
